In its annual survey of the corporate communications sector, Televisual - the business magazine for the broadcast and production community - rated Jacaranda a very commendable second behind industry giant Imagination.
The publication's 'Corporate 50' was determined by survey forms being sent to corporate production companies throughout the UK asking them questions about their work and their companies. The resultant rankings are based on each company's corporate turnover and its reputation among its peers as well as its staff numbers and number of commissions.
"To come second to Imagination is an achievement of which we are very proud," says Katy Eyre, Jacaranda's managing director. "In a sector populated mainly by small or medium-sized companies such as ours, Imagination - with a permanent staff of 367 - is without doubt the biggest fish in the pond by a long way. We are delighted to know that in spite of the difference in size, we have 20 permanent staff, and the fact that Imagination has been around for twice as long as we have, the industry as a whole recognises our brand value and places us as one of its leaders."
Indeed, when asked specifically which companies other production companies respected most, Jacaranda once again came second, with Imagination coming in third.
In an industry that has changed almost unrecognisably during the previous two decades, Eyre notes that: "These days clients are spending more, but at the same time getting more for their money. We used to have one-off corporate commissions, but now we collect a range of visual material for companies, which can then be refashioned for different audiences such as employees, investors and AGMs."
