Jacaranda - In a Nutshell

What's New

Rio Tinto's business documentary on Southern Africa now complete.
May 2006

Southern Africa

Jacaranda was asked to produce the film in order to highlight Rio Tinto’s philosophy, developed over half a century, of responsible and sustainable mining in a region with particular and pressing human and environmental needs. Filmed on location over a six week period, the film focuses on the company’s work in Namibia, South Africa and Madagascar. It features interviews with people on the ground and at the heart of their businesses across the region, plus an examination of some of the local health and education initiatives, partnerships and Black Empowerment Enterprises (BEEs) that have been created.

The documentary aims to illustrate how, by forging sustainable partnerships with both government and local communities, business can be a powerful force for social change as well as economic success.

The film will premiere in Johannesburg later this month to an invited audience of employees, partners, government and press.
