Documentary update on Rio Tinto's Argentinean Potasio Rio Colorado project
March 07

Filming took place in December in the Province of Mendoza in West central Argentina.   The film aims to bring interested stakeholders up to date with progress on the potash mining project at Potasio Rio Colorado in the two years since the original film was made.  Rio Tinto's plans to extract potash from 1000m below ground for global distribution include the building of facilities to extract and process the potash and a transport chain to a large new port terminal at Bahia Blanca.  The project is on a grand scale, involving five Provinces, and could provide significant new direct and indirect employment opportunities.

The film aims to illustrate how Rio Tinto will develop the project and to explain progress made in all areas, from planning and building, to health and safety and environmental impact management.

Ken Haddow of Rio Tinto said: "The films are an excellent way to communicate the story of our project to a broad range of people in a way that really brings it alive for them."

The film will be distributed to Argentinean stakeholders, local government and interested parties on DVD in English, Spanish and dual language versions.
